Here’s a quick rundown of the best of the Charlottesville Restaurant scene:

The Box: Great entertainment nightly. Live bands like Travis Elliot and Tucker Rogers.

Rapture: Meals, events, pool and music in the R2 lounge. A must visit f you’re bar hopping on the Downtown Mall.

Boylan Heights: The University of Virginia’s premier night stop and a great place to stop in and get a made-to-order fresh burger.

Maya: Bellmont’s best with top southern fare and great music.

Milan: Indian food with a twist. It takes a while to eat but well worth the wait.

The Brick Oven: Best Italian food on north 29. The tomato sauce is fantastic and the fresh salad bar is terrific.

Flaming Wok: One of Charlottesville’s most longstanding Chinese and Sushi fusion restaurants. Yummy for years.

The C & O: A downtown mall tradition! Late night menu includes terrific chicken dinners.

Tastings: For selection and expertise when it comes to wine, and top quality food this downtown mall hole in the wall is a find.

Blue Light Grill: Tasty food and a great place to meet people until around midnight on weekends. Try the fish.

Boars Head Inn: One of the finest restaurants in Charlottesville. The grounds are out of a Jane Austin novel. Breakfast with French Toast is great. The dinners are even better.

Zocalo: Fun and interesting food with a twist. Plenty of entertainment. Downtown mall.

Buddhist Biker Bar: More for the fun and drinks than for the food. When UVA is in session this place is hoppin.

The Tavern: Where townies and students come together to eat good down home cooked meals.

Escafe: Music almost every night. One of the big alternative lifestyle scenes in C-ville.

Guadalajara: Two locations. Great Mexican. Or favorite is the tacos.

Thai 99: Thai food, terrific for sit down or carry out. We like the Chicken Pad Thai.

Christians Pizza: Fun and tasty New York style Pizza by the slice or by the pie. Downtown Mall and Corner (which is open late.)

Coup Devilles: Bands many night. A great place to have a drink. A cozy hole in the wall.

Sipps: Great wine and even better service. Half kitchen provides surprisingly tasty fare.

Enoteca: Italian wines and foods with a twist. Fantastic first date location.

Ventana: Totally off beat drinks and fun. Try the cucumber martini. Weirdly there’s a TV in the bathroom with a views of the bar.

Little John’s: 24-hour sandwiches, one of Charlottsville’s best kept secrets. UVA. Try the Chris Long sub or the Turkey Rubin.
